Knockanstockan TVs

A festival installation made from nine old televisions, addressable LEDs, and an ESP8266. The old TV shells became a glowing wall of light and motion for Knockanstockan.

What Was Used

  • 9 old televisions
  • ESP8266 controller
  • Roughly 400 addressable LEDs
  • Custom wiring
  • Power supply and distribution
  • Festival-ready mounting

Notes

The project reused old TV housings as physical frames for light. The screens became individual glowing boxes, giving the installation a familiar object shape while keeping it abstract and playful.

Build

The interesting part was making the TVs feel like one piece while still preserving the grid of separate objects. The ESP8266 handled the LED control and the installation ran as a compact festival light feature.
