Luminous Echoes
A line of twelve LED bars that combined movement, light, and directional sound. Each bar held addressable LEDs and audio playback so words and light could appear to travel across the installation.
What Was Used
- 12 custom LED bars
- 70 addressable LEDs per bar
- 12 voice playback modules
- ESP32 light control
- Raspberry Pi Pico sound control
- Control panel with LED buttons
- 12V and 5V power distribution
- Wooden support poles
Notes
The idea was to make a word feel like it was travelling through space, with one speaker playing at a time while the LEDs carried the visual movement along the row.
Interaction
The control panel let people influence the light patterns and sound sequences. The proposal also included collecting words from the audience to build new sequences during the festival.
